Argentina
Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world. Located just south of
Brazil on the eastern
side of South America, it is a peaceful country of about 30 million
inhabitants. Better than 60% are of European descent. Unlike other countries
in South America, the ethnic background is primarily European, predominately
Spanish. While they speak Spanish, their main language is hospitality. The
government is stable, and the population is Pro American. No special
personal safety measures other than common sense are required, as the crime
rates are extremely low, with very few drug problems. It is the land of the
gaucho, but in addition to cattle and sheep, grain crops are an important
part of their agricultural output.

The
primary area we hunt is Cordoba, which is largely devoted to the production of
corn, wheat, sorghum, and soybeans. The farmlands provide excellent roosting and
nesting areas, and where there are planted crops, there are incredible
concentrations of doves.
Currency
The official currency is the peso and the current exchange rate is 3 to
1, peso vs. dollar. U.S. dollars are pretty widely
accepted, but if you pay with dollars, you will usually receive your change in
pesos. Therefore, it is best to bring small bills to make purchases with.
Time
When the U.S. is on Daylight Savings Time, Argentina is on Eastern
Time plus one hour (it's later in Argentina). The remainder of the year they are
Eastern Time plus two hours. There is a difference of 5-6 hours with European
time depending of the season and country. When it is morning in Argentina, it is
afternoon in Europe.
Language
Spanish is the official national language, although English is spoken in most shops,
restaurants and at the lodge. It does not hurt to learn some basic Spanish to
get you by if you need to.
